Runs 10-12

Runs 10 and 11 didn’t happen. Oops. I was busy graduating. I did, however, eat healthy and I think all is well. Run 12 was AWESOME. For the first time during this program, I ran the full 2 miles. It was a huge accomplishment for me!

Unfortunately (or fortunately…depending how you look at it, I guess) I have to run 3 miles today. Dun dun dunnnnnnn.

Runs 7-9

Ugh the weather has been so bad lately so I’ve had to run in the gym. It’s the biggest drag. Not only is it stuffy and weird to have people watching my ass jiggle while I run, but treadmill running isn’t as intense as road running so I got worse!

Runs 7 and 8 were 2-milers in the gym. Once I got to run 9 (I did it outside), which was only a 1 mile run, I could barely make it! Now I have to work that much harder to get to where I was earlier in the week because of two setback runs :( boo.

At least I’m running, right?

Run 5

It was soooo nice outside today! I made it the full mile (and actually went 1.06 miles because I was running to a park to watch my boyfriends intramural softball game and the park was just a litttttttle farther). Everything was smooth running :)

Run 5

I’m getting much better at these 2 mile runs! I finished the first mile without stopping and did pretty well on the second mile. I felt pretty good during the first half of it. I ate a good breakfast, drank lots of water and was mentally there. The second mile was a little rough. It’s like 143% humidity outside and I felt like I was breathing water. Also, my form is like…awful. I can feel that I’m overexerting myself, so I need to work on that.

Run 4

Today was almost a success. I brought my boyfriend on my run today (supposed to be 2 miles). My goal for all of these runs is to get as far as possible without stopping and then let myself take a break, whether it reaches the proper distance or not. Then from there, I alternate running and walking.

Today, I got over a mile without stopping! Unfortunately, I barely drank any water all day (and loaded up on far too much of the triple chocolate pound cake I made earlier this week…ugh). It made me feel a little weak and lightheaded on my run. I’ll definitely be preparing better for next time.

I can already see improvement! Yay!

Runs 1-3

Okay, let me start out by saying, I haven’t run for real since November of 2011. Right now, I’m in a lot of pain. Good pain. But pain. Run number 1 was done on a treadmill because NYC was deciding to be freezing. My goal was 1 mile and I…ehhh…kinda did it. I did a walk/run.

Run number 2 was to be 2 miles. It was a lot nicer out yesterday when I did it so that made it a little more pleasant. But lemme tell you—running 2 miles after not having run in a long time is somethin’ else. But I did it.

Now, today. Run 3. It only had to be one mile and I thought that’d be a cake walk. Cake run? Anyway, I feel like I have tennis balls in my calves, but I did it!

I’ve done this 12 week training program before and it definitely wasn’t as successful as it’s been. Maybe this will be the start of a new chapter in my life. I’m hoping it’ll help me take off the last few pounds and, along with the strength program Nike+ advises, I should definitely be more toned!

I'm 21 years old. I've had my share of ups and downs with my weight. Now I'm ready to get fit and stay fit.
